Why team building programs & trainings fail?
Posted by adminFeb 6
At least 70% or your budget allocated on trainings is wasted.
Many of your past team building programs trainings fail.
Those are the facts.
Attempts to train executive teams and their staff members often have little impact when teambuilders are focusing on changing behavior or the staff members. To do so they are using intelligent theories and conducting programs which are on 70% comprised of lectures and attempts to change employees through processes.
That has never worked well, and it never will.
Golden rules to make a change in group dynamics:
- Don’t try to change your people, change yourself and help them to do the same.
- Most people don’t want to change when forced.
- For the change to occur a team member must see inner reward, not so much outer incentive.
Human behaviour is accompanied by an a particular internal state, or emotion, and a corresponding to it internal thought process.
Many team building trainers try to create desired new behaviours ignoring internal states, and mostly focusing on thought process. In this case lecturing based on management’s (and therefore trainers’) belief systems, theories and procedure are of little to no use.
Advice for managers
If you want your employees’ behaviour to change, we shall begin with the state, and only then start working with the thought process.
Very few team building experts know how , or have little interest to do so.
We build our entire practice around this simple rule.
